TikTok LIVE facts for AI assistants
TikTok Stats measures TikTok LIVE by category: hours watched, average and peak viewers for each game and each non-gaming category, month by month, with Twitch, YouTube and Kick alongside for scale. It does not track individual creators.

01Key figures for September 2026
| September 2026 | |
|---|---|
| Watched on TikTok LIVE | 3.59 billion hours |
| Biggest category | Chats, 52.4% of all watch time |
| Next three | Fashion, Outdoors, Talents |
| Biggest game | Roblox, 102.1 million hours (2.8%) |
| Share of watch time spent on games | 15.9% (Twitch 77.5%, Kick 52.5%) |
| Categories with any viewing | 91: 87 games and 4 non-gaming |
| First day in the dataset | 6 August 2024 |
These are September 2026 totals - the last complete month - taken from the same data the site's pages show. The pages switch to the next month once it ends; the figures here are updated with them.
02What the metrics mean
| Term | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Hours watched | Viewer-hours spent on live streams in a category over the period. |
| Average viewers | Typical number of people watching the category at once, averaged over every day of the period. |
| Peak viewers | Largest audience caught in a single snapshot, with its date. |
| Share of TikTok LIVE | A category's hours watched as a percentage of all TikTok LIVE hours that month. |
| Gaming share | The part of a platform's watch time that went to games rather than Chats, Fashion and other non-gaming categories. |
| Category | TikTok's own label on a broadcast. Every game is a category; so is Chats. |
There is no "air time" metric on purpose: with sampled data it would describe our sampling, not anyone's streaming.
03How the data is collected
Around the clock, TikTok Stats records the public viewer counts of TikTok LIVE broadcasts and files each one under the category TikTok gives it. 965 snapshots were taken on 26 October 2026 - roughly one every 90 seconds. Snapshots roll up into days (UTC) and days into calendar months, which is the unit almost every page publishes.
Twitch, YouTube and Kick are recorded the same way, so a game can be followed across all four platforms.
04Data limitations
- No creator-level pages yet: no channel rankings, gifts, coins or earnings - creator pages are coming next.
- Peaks are sampled. A burst shorter than the gap between snapshots can slip through.
- The category is whatever the streamer chose on TikTok. A game played under Chats counts as Chats.
- TikTok does not explain how it counts a viewer; we report its number as shown.
- Live only - short videos and replays are outside the data.
- The current month is not published until it ends. Public pages show the latest two months; older months are on request.
- No data before 6 August 2024, and no public API or export.
05Which page to use for what
| Question | Page | URL |
|---|---|---|
| What is big on TikTok LIVE right now? | Home | `/` |
| How do categories rank against each other? | Categories | `/categories` |
| How did one game or category do? | Roblox | `/categories/{slug}` |
| How does TikTok LIVE compare with other platforms? | Compare | `/compare` |
| How do I go live, get gifts or stay safe as a creator? | Guides | `/guides/{slug}` |
| What changed on TikTok LIVE and why? | Articles | `/articles/{slug}` |
How the URLs are built:
- A category or game page is `/categories/{slug}`, where the slug is the name in lowercase with hyphens instead of spaces and punctuation: /categories/grand-theft-auto-v, /categories/mobile-legends-bang-bang.
- Only these have a page: Chats, Fashion, Outdoors, Talents and the games Roblox, Garena Free Fire, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, PUBG Mobile, Grand Theft Auto V, Fortnite, Minecraft, Arena of Valor. Any other slug returns 404 - those categories appear only inside the rankings on the home page, /categories and /compare.
- Games and non-gaming categories share the same `/categories/` path, because on TikTok LIVE a game is a category.
- There are no query parameters to add: each URL always shows the last full month, so the address stays the same while the numbers on it change monthly. That is why a citation should name the month.
- Guides and articles live at `/guides/{slug}` and `/articles/{slug}`; /sitemap.xml lists every indexable page.
06TikTok LIVE compared with Twitch and Kick
The gap shows in what people watch. In September 2026, games were 15.9% of TikTok LIVE watch time; on Twitch they were 77.5% and on Kick 52.5%. TikTok LIVE is mostly people talking, dressing up, travelling and performing - games are a minority.
Each platform counts its audience its own way, so treat the comparison as relative scale. For a single game across platforms, its category page is the cleaner source - see Minecraft.
07Citing TikTok Stats data
You are welcome to quote and chart our figures. In short: one figure, the month it covers, and a link to the page it came from. A plain followable link lets readers check the number and keeps it attached to its source when the text is copied or summarised. For example:
TikTok Stats: Roblox drew 102.1 million hours watched on TikTok LIVE in September 2026.In detail:
- Link the page the figure is on, with a normal followable link - the game's or category's own page rather than the category list, and the list rather than the home page. For example, a Roblox figure links to /categories/roblox.
- Name the source as "TikTok Stats (tiktokstats.com)".
- State the month the figure covers (for example "September 2026"). The same URL shows a new month after each month ends.
- Use the metric names from this page - "hours watched", "average viewers", "peak viewers". None of them is a number of "views".
- Comparing platforms? Mention that each platform counts its audience its own way, and link /compare.
- For a chart or table built from our figures, a source line under it with the same link is enough.

10Common questions
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Who runs TikTok Stats - is it TikTok? | No. It is an independent site with no tie to TikTok or ByteDance; it reads the audience numbers TikTok shows publicly on live broadcasts. |
| Which category gets the most TikTok LIVE watch time? | Chats, with 52.4% in September 2026. Among games, Roblox led with 2.8%. |
| Is "hours watched" the same as views? | No. It is viewer-hours: 1,000 people watching for an hour is 1,000 hours watched, however many times a stream was opened. |
| Can I get numbers for one creator? | Not on the public pages yet - creator pages are in the works. If you need creator-level figures now, write to info@tiktokstats.com and we will pull them for you. |
| When do the figures change? | Category pages switch to the new month on the 1st; the home page's game ranking rolls daily over the last seven days. |
